Pembroke School is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking ICT Senior Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining a modern, secure and high-performing technology environment. This is a senior technical role with responsibility across cloud, network and enterprise platforms, where you will operate as a trusted expert and key point of technical authority. With a high degree of autonomy, you will contribute to a technology environment that is scalable, secure and aligned with the operational needs of the School.

 

About the Role

Operating as a senior technical authority within the ICT function, you will lead the design, implementation and optimisation of the School’s core infrastructure and platforms. You will partner closely with the Director of ICT and broader team to ensure systems are robust, future-ready and aligned with organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the lifecycle management, performance, security and continuous improvement of core ICT infrastructure platforms 
  • Designing and managing Microsoft environments across on-premise and cloud (Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID) 
  • Overseeing corporate network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, switching, routing and voice systems 
  • Driving infrastructure projects and technical initiatives from concept through to delivery 
  • Acting as a senior escalation point and providing expert technical advice across the School 
  • Strengthening cybersecurity posture through the implementation of frameworks, controls and risk management practices

 

About You

You are a highly capable and experienced ICT professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys taking ownership of critical systems. You bring both deep technical expertise and the ability to influence, guide and uplift those around you.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience across Microsoft ecosystems, including Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments 
  • Deep technical knowledge of networking, virtualisation and enterprise infrastructure platforms 
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and deliver outcomes in a structured and effective way 
  • Confidence in providing expert advice and working collaboratively across a diverse stakeholder group 
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to resolve complex issues end-to-end 
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment 

You will also hold relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications, supported by significant hands-on experience in a comparable role.
