The Library Assistant (Senior School) will provide support to students and staff within the Senior School Resource Centre (Years 11 and 12). They will assist with the day-to-day operations of the library, work collaboratively with other library staff, and perform their duties to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the library.
About the Role
Acting as a first-point of contact in Pembroke's Senior School Library, this role will operate the circulation desk in conjunction with other members of the Library team to assist students and staff with general and research enquiries. Some work across other Pembroke libraries and campuses may be needed.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Labelling, covering and repairing books
- Re-shelving resources
- Reporting and following up on overdue books and other resources
- Assisting with periodic stocktake
- Assisting with inter-library loans and the return of items to public libraries
- Maintaining the photocopier and other stationery supplies
- Undertaking collection projects, e.g. relegation, collection development
- Creating and maintaining subject specific resource guides on internal pages
About You
This role is pivotal to ensure a smooth operation of the library; therefore the successful applicant will have the ability to thrive in a school environment, which can often be time and pressure sensitive.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Library Services, Information Management or a related field is desirable but not essential
- Experience working in a library or resource centre environment is desirable
- Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service to a diverse range of users
- Experience supporting students or young people in an educational setting (advantageous)
- Working knowledge of library systems, catalogues or resource management processes (desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Adobe applications
