The Greenkeeper is a member of the Building and Grounds Department and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, renovation and upgrade of all school passive recreational turf surfaces and assists in the preparation of owned or leased sports turf and hard surface playing fields. 

About the Role

This role is responsible for the maintenance, renovation, and presentation of the School’s turf surfaces and sporting fields. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to apply specialist turf management expertise while contributing to high-quality grounds that support recreation, sport, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Turf, sports field and grounds maintenance
  • Equipment and facility maintenance
  • Team coordination and supervision
  • Procurement and Contractor Engagement
  • Communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Administration and other general duties as required

 

About You

The successful applicant will possess strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing turf maintenance issues.

You will bring:

  • Certificate III or IV in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • ChemCert or equivalent chemical application certification (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in groundskeeping, greenkeeping, or sports turf management.
  • In-depth knowledge of turf maintenance, including plant and soil fertility, irrigation management, pest identification and control and sports field preparation.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining turf machinery.
  • Experience in general maintenance, landscaping, and minor construction tasks.
