Pembroke School is seeking enthusiastic and committed Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our vibrant learning community for 2027. Backfilling for leave purposes, this role offers the opportunity to inspire students through dynamic Physical Education programs and meaningful Health education, supporting young people to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and lifelong wellbeing habits.
 

About the Role

The Health and Physical Education Teacher will deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences across Middle and Senior School. The successful candidate will be confident teaching students across a range of year levels and able to adapt their pedagogy to meet the developmental needs of diverse learners. You will join a collaborative and energetic HPE team that values high-quality teaching, strong relationships, and concept-based learning that develops students' understanding alongside their knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality HPE programs aligned with the relevant curriculum framework for Middle and Senior School.
  • Creating inclusive, active learning environments that promote participation and skill development.
  • Supporting student wellbeing, teamwork, and positive health practices.
  • Assessing and providing meaningful feedback to support student growth.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistency and quality across the HPE program.
  • Contributing positively to the broader co-curricular and sporting life of the School.

 

About You

You are an enthusiastic HPE educator with experience teaching across Middle and/or Senior School. You understand how students learn through movement, inquiry, and authentic application, and you enjoy designing engaging learning experiences that connect theory with practice. You are passionate about promoting physical activity, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes. You bring confidence, organisation, and strong classroom management skills, alongside the ability to foster respectful and motivating learning environments.

You thrive in collaborative teams, communicate effectively with students and colleagues, and take pride in delivering engaging lessons that build both competence and confidence.

Previous IB teaching experience will be highly regarded.

You will bring:

  • Experience teaching HPE across Middle and/or Senior School
  • Bring creativity and adaptability to practical and theory-based HPE lessons.
  • Model positive attitudes towards teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Build strong rapport with students, encouraging participation and personal growth.
  • Contribute enthusiastically to sporting and co-curricular opportunities where possible.
  • Support consistent expectations around safety, inclusion, and respectful conduct.
