- For Teaching Staff, an appropriate subject allocation will be provided alongside co-curricular responsibilities.
- For Professional Services Staff, the role is offered on a full-time, term-time basis, with any required duties during non-term time (e.g. camps, regattas) remunerated via additional allowances in accordance with the Pembroke Enterprise Agreement.
About the Role
As Head of Rowing, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and delivery of a high-quality program that supports student development at all levels, from enthusiastic beginners to aspiring State and National athletes. With a strong focus on program design, coach leadership, and community engagement, this is a role that blends operational excellence with a passion for youth development and performance.
Pembroke’s rowing program is built on a legacy of professionalism, inclusivity, and sustained success. We are looking for a leader who will uphold and extend this tradition, bringing both strategic vision and technical expertise to the role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and lead a cohesive, inclusive coaching program for Years 7–12.
- Manage and mentor a team of coaches and support staff across training, camps, and regattas.
- Coordinate fleet and equipment management across boatshed locations.
- Oversee program logistics, including scheduling, travel, events, and communication.
- Develop strong relationships with students, families, and external stakeholders.
- Promote pathways to high-level competition while encouraging lifelong participation in rowing.
About You
We are seeking a thoughtful and experienced coach who understands the impact rowing can have, not just in building athletic ability, but in shaping confident, resilient, and well-rounded young people.
You bring strong coaching credentials, a steady leadership presence, and a commitment to fostering a positive and high-performing team culture. You are organised and collaborative, with a deep respect for the balance between performance and wellbeing. With clarity, care, and purpose, you’re ready to lead a program that reflects the values of the School and the aspirations of its students.
You will also bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in rowing at school, club, or elite levels.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with students, families, staff, and external partners.
- A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Confidence in managing equipment, budgets, schedules, and logistics across multiple venues.
- A genuine dedication to building an inclusive, supportive, and aspirational culture for all involved in the programme.
