Pembroke School is seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to take our renowned Rowing programme into its next chapter.
As Head of Rowing, you will be responsible for the vision, delivery, and growth of a high-performance programme that nurtures student development across all levels—from beginners to aspiring national and international competitors. This role combines strategic leadership, coaching expertise, and community engagement to ensure the Pembroke Rowing programme continues to thrive.
This position may suit a teacher or a professional services staff member, with a flexible structure and generous allowance to support the demands of the role.

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Renowned for academic excellence and a broad, inclusive program, Pembroke offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Primary Years Programme (PYP).

About the Role
Pembroke’s rowing legacy is strong, built on professionalism, inclusivity, and excellence. We are seeking a leader with deep rowing expertise—ideally with experience at the highest levels of competition—who can inspire, mentor and elevate all members of the programme, and take Pembroke Rowing to bold new heights.
The successful Applicant will:
Design and lead a cohesive coaching programme from Years 7–12
Mentor a committed team of coaches and support staff
Coordinate training schedules, regattas, camps, and logistics
Oversee fleet and facilities management across boatshed locations
Engage with parents, students, and external rowing bodies
Promote student pathways into high-level competition and lifelong sport
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
An experienced and successful rowing coach with a passion for youth development
A strong leader with outstanding interpersonal, mentoring, and organisational skills
Capable of fostering a positive team culture grounded in school values
An exceptional communicator with the ability to engage students, parents, and external stakeholders
If a teacher, eligible for South Australian teacher registration, or if not, a suitably credentialed and experienced professional leader
Committed to ongoing development—for yourself and your team
