About the Role
The Head of Middle School Mathematics provides leadership in curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, and professional practice for Years 7–10. The role ensures that the Mathematics curriculum is engaging, contemporary, and aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the School’s educational philosophy.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading and supporting a team of dedicated Mathematics teachers in Years 7–10.
- Overseeing curriculum design, implementation, and assessment to ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.
- Monitoring student progress through data analysis and implementing strategies for improvement and enrichment.
- Mentoring and developing staff, including induction, performance review, and professional learning.
- Managing departmental operations, including budgets, timetabling, and examinations.
- Collaborating with other academic leaders to ensure continuity and excellence across the Middle and Senior Schools.
About You
You are an inspiring and collaborative educator who demonstrates expertise in teaching Mathematics and a genuine enthusiasm for leading others. With strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you can build capacity in your team and foster an environment where students and teachers thrive.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Education with a specialisation in Mathematics.
- Current or eligible registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
- Extensive experience teaching Mathematics across Years 7–10 with evidence of student achievement.
- Demonstrated leadership and coordination experience within a mathematics or similar department.
- Proven ability to analyse student data, inform practice, and drive continuous improvement.
- Capacity to lead, inspire, and mentor colleagues in a collegial and reflective environment.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
