Pembroke School is seeking a passionate and experienced EAL Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in a dynamic, supportive learning environment.

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Renowned for academic excellence and a broad, inclusive program, Pembroke offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Job Description

About the Role

As part of the Pembroke Connect Program, the successful applicant will support EAL students in small group settings, often through individualised learning plans tailored to their language development needs. A deep empathy for the challenges faced by students in immersion environments and a demonstrated ability to foster engagement and progress in language acquisition are essential.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate EAL programs for students from Years 7 through to Stage 1 EAL.
  • Design and implement individual and group learning sequences based on students’ varying proficiency levels.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and reporting, including regular English language proficiency testing.
  • Use contemporary resources and pedagogical strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Provide regular feedback to families and school leadership on student progress.
     

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience working with secondary school students, ideally across Years 7–11 (Year 12 would be beneficial).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
  • A strong commitment to professional growth and innovative teaching practices.
  • Teaching qualifications with a specialisation in English as an Additional Language (or aligned discipline).
  • Registered as a teacher with the TRB in South Australia.
