Pembroke School is seeking an inspiring and academically driven Head of Psychology to lead and grow Psychology across the School.

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Renowned for academic excellence and a broad, inclusive program, Pembroke offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Primary Years Programme (PYP).

About the Role

The Head of Psychology provides strategic and instructional leadership across the School, working with the Head of Science to shape innovative curriculum aligned with SACE and IB frameworks and to actively grow student interest and engagement in the subject.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading and coordinating the teaching of Psychology across Middle and Senior Schools
  • Overseeing curriculum design, assessment practices, and subject documentation
  • Ensuring alignment with SACE, IB and relevant curriculum frameworks
  • Monitoring student progress and implementing targeted academic interventions
  • Mentoring and supporting Psychology teachers and contributing to performance development
  • Promoting Psychology through enrichment activities, competitions and subject initiatives

Note to applicants: This role is primarily Psychology; however, the successful applicant will also teach in additional subject areas. Please specify in your application all subjects you are qualified to teach.


About You

You are an exemplary classroom practitioner with a deep understanding of Psychology and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. You are organised, strategic, and collaborative, and you inspire both students and colleagues.

You will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology (or related discipline) and current teacher registration
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Psychology in Middle and/or Senior School contexts
  • Experience in curriculum leadership, coordination, or subject management
  • Strong knowledge of SACE and/or IB curriculum requirements
  • The ability to use student data to inform practice and drive improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to mentor and lead colleagues
