Pembroke School is seeking a proactive and organised Visual Arts Assistant to support our vibrant Middle and Senior School Visual Arts programs.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working in creative environments and wants to play an important behind-the-scenes role in supporting inspiring art programs. From preparing materials and maintaining studios to assisting with exhibitions and displays, you will help ensure that students and teachers have the resources, spaces and support they need to bring creative ideas to life.

About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Visual Arts and teaching staff, the Visual Arts Assistant plays an important role in supporting the delivery of engaging and high-quality visual arts programs across the School. As part of a dynamic and collaborative department that values creativity and innovation, this role is ideal for someone with a passion for the arts, strong organisational skills and a practical mindset who enjoys working in a busy and creative school environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and maintaining art materials, equipment and teaching resources.
- Operating and maintaining studio tools, equipment and the kiln.
- Supporting the coordination of exhibitions, displays and visual arts events.
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and processing invoices.
- Helping organise displays, excursions, budgeting processes and risk assessments.
- Maintaining records, including the School’s art collection and hazardous materials register.
- Supporting teachers and students in classrooms and studio environments when required.
- Promoting safe work practices and contributing to WHS compliance within the department.
About You
You are organised, practical and enthusiastic about supporting creative learning environments. You enjoy working collaboratively with teachers and students and take pride in ensuring studios, equipment and resources are well prepared and maintained.
You will bring:
- Experience or training in Visual Arts or a related creative field.
- Confidence working with art tools, materials and equipment.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Clear communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- A flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to adapt in a dynamic school setting.
